Summary of the facts of global warming.
- Burning fossil fuels and increasing the
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and oceans is not a good thing to be
doing.
- Additional carbon dioxide will
endanger ocean fisheries by destabilizing the calcium carbonate in
marine organisms at the base of the ocean food chain.
- Reducing the atmosperic carbon dioxide level to the pre-industrial
level will have only a small effect on global warming.
- Methane (CH4) can have very little effect on global warming (see Fig. 12 in
Wijngaarden and Happer) because the Earth emits very little radiation
at the frequencies that methane blocks.
